MetroNet internet service has quietly expanded further into Minnesota by acquiring Jaguar Communications only a few months ago. Residents in Carver, Scott, Dakota, Nicollet, Le Sueur, Rice, Blue Earth, Waseca, Steele, Dodge, Olmstead, Freeborn, and Mower counties will soon see more fiber internet, TV, and phone products as MetroNet establish itself in Minnesota. MetroNet Acquires Minnesota Internet Provider Jaguar Communications.

Not many details about the acquisition between the two companies have been released to the public, however, MetroNet has promised to invest an additional $150 million to grow and expand upon Jaguar’s fiber-optic infrastructure. The investment into more fiber infrastructure has been well received by public officials and the acquisition is expected to be a positive one for local Minnesota residents. With MetroNet’s reasonably priced internet plans and commitment to providing 100% fiber to the home internet; residents can expect better internet and the same great service they’ve come to expect with Jaguar Communications in the upcoming months.

It’s worth noting that it’s possible that any planned construction zones for the coming year could come to be postponed due to the coronavirus as it has been happening all year round with other internet providers for safety reasons. Luckily, MetroNet has always kept an open dialog with residents on the status of construction right down to specific neighborhoods. MetroNet does allow early sign ups on their website that’ll notify you right when your address is available to schedule installation.

This massive infrastructure expansion planned as a result of the acquisition of Jaguar Communications is addition to the existing five year long franchise agreement MetroNet made with the city of Rochester, MN just last year. In that agreement with the city, MetroNet committed to cover approximately 80% of homes and apartments with fiber internet by the end of the agreement. As residents will also be able to see, MetroNet is well on its way to honoring its promise to Rochester, MN residents.

What Does The Acquisition Mean For Current Jaguar Customers?

MetroNet doesn’t plan on keeping the Jaguar Communications brand; local residents will soon begin seeing MetroNet around town. For current customers of Jaguar Communications not a lot will change. They will soon see the MetroNet name on their billing statements, but will not see a difference in their monthly rate. There’s no official word yet on exactly when current customers will have to merge over to MetroNet plans. An anticipated integration into MetroNet products is slated for some time in 2021.
