All of us know that the rich and famous gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the Upper East Side in New York City when the Met Gala takes place. It is one of the most popular events and tickets are in hot demand. You can get a ticket for more than $30,000 for a seat, which is much more expensive than playing a game at CasinoChan de. The Met Gala is organized annually by the multinational fashion magazine Vogue. For many of you, it may come as a surprise that it is a charity event. It is a glamorous way of raising money. Mainly, it supports the museum’s Costume Institute. This year, more than $17 million was raised. The money is used to run the institute and the annual blockbuster exhibitions.
There is also a theme that changes each year. In 2020, it was About Time: Fashion and Duration, 2021 In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, and 2022 An Anthology of Fashion. But both critics and fans seem to agree on their favorite year. And that was 2018. According to the newspapers and fashion blogs, the costumes were unique and truly fitting for the theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. To give you a little review, the highlights were clearly Rihanna wearing a beaded and jeweled gown, a matching papal miter and necklace, Blake Lively matching halo by Lorraine Schwartz with a Versace gown with a mega train. This year’s Met Gala was somehow not that intoxicating. Still, some stars stood out with their creative and fabulous dresses and costumes. All under the umbrella of this year’s theme: In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
Highlights included Pete Davidson in Dior Men alongside Kim Kardashian in a vintage Jean Louis gown and Cartier jewelry. Stormzy in a white suit with a cape by Burberry, Tory Burch in an amazing black and white custom by Tory Burch, famous singer and songwriter Katy Perry wore a dress by Oscar de la Renta, sandals by Aquazzura and jewelry by Briony Raymond.
The people in charge this year were Anna Wintour, as usual, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Blake Lively especially stood out with a stunning gown by Atelier Versace that matched her crown, opera gloves and drop earrings. She later transformed her bow into a long blue train. There will surely be many more years of elegant gowns and interesting themes to come. And the best part is that it is all for a good cause.
